Nobody remembers inviting her. Everybody remembers the moment she started singing. She came up in the Bay Area painting like the old masters, and somewhere along the way the singing she did while she worked became the work itself. Asami found her first. River made it three. What started as a garage band playing for nobody is now the voice of Danger City, and the sweetest sound in the file belongs to its youngest subject. The file lists her as the quiet one. Compiled from public record, venue chatter, and one unreturned phone call to a Bay Area art school. The subject has not confirmed or corrected any of it. She did, reportedly, laugh.
Lacy Evangeline was born in the California Bay Area, and her record suggests paint before it suggests music. She enrolled in art school as a painter, good enough that instructors argued over her, and fell hard for the old masters. The Renaissance never let go: corseted silhouettes, puffed sleeves, fabric that moves like it was painted on. What began as costume study became a uniform, and it has never once read as a gimmick.
The voice was discovered, not built. She sang while she painted, and the people who heard it did not forget it. It is a sweet voice, almost too innocent for the songs it now carries, and that contrast is exactly what gets under the skin.
The friendship with Asami Freya began with redacted and a borrowed jacket that was never returned. It was Asami who first put Lacy in front of a microphone with intent, and through Asami came River. Three friends, a garage, music made for fun and for whoever happened to be in the room. Then the songs became the soundtrack of Danger City, a neon noir film project with television ambitions, every track tied to a character, a moment, a night that changed everything.
She is the youngest of the three: teased constantly, defended instantly. The file advises against crowding her after a set. Do not mistake young for soft. The sweetness is real. So is whatever is underneath it.
